Approaches to Learning Enviroments

Cooperative Learning is an effective way of learning as it keeps students engaged with the learning material. Cooperative learning works by breaking students into small groups in order to complete tasks and assignments. Students must work together in order to complete these tasks which forces them to become engaged and understand the learning material. Cooperative learning has proven to be an effective method of instruction as long as the teacher ensure that groups are working on the tasks and not getting distracted. It is also important to ensure all group members are working collaboratively to ensure that work is distributed evenly throughout the group. Similar to how students are spilt into pods in this in order to complete tasks and projects. Cooperative learning can be used to teach the topic of the debt cycle to students however it would be most effective after students received a lecture on the topic to gain more understanding before breaking into groups. Once students have a general understanding of the debt cycle they could be broken into small groups in order to completes tasks that would help them better understand the material. By working together students could help each other understand the material better and begin to form a better understanding of the debt cycle. Small tasks could include drawing graphs of the debt cycle, labelling all parts of the graph. This would be an effective way for students to understand all components of the debt cycle. Cooperative learning has been proven to be an effective method of instruction and would be a good method to implement in order to teach students about our chosen topic which is the economic debt cycle.
