Intro to Economics: Crash Course Econ #1
- What kind of interaction would the video require from your students? Does it force them to respond in some way (inherent)?
The video continuously asks students questions about economics in order to help them better understand the topic. Questions range from definitions to personal questions that allow students to understand how economics plays a role in their personal life. This forces students to think more about the topic and then come up with their own answer to the question. This helps the students understand the material better by keeping them engaged during the video.
2. What activity could you suggest that they do, after they have watched the video (designed)? What type of knowledge or skill would that activity help develop? What medium or technology would students use to do the activity?
After watching the video students could make a short quiz for themselves to write. This will force them to interact with the material when forming questions. As well as understand the concept better by looking for the answers. Students could easily do this on their computers and then post it onto the course site when finished.
3. How would students get feedback on the activity that you set? What medium or technology would they and/or you use for getting and giving feedback on their activity?
After posting their quiz to the course site the professor could reply to the students post with feedback. Once again this would all be done online on the course website.
4. How much work for you would that activity cause? Would the work be both manageable and worthwhile? Could the activity be scaled for larger numbers of students?
This activity would create minimal work while still ensuring that students gain a good understanding of the material. Making it both a manageable and worthwhile activity. Another benefit of this activity is that it would be easily scalable as long as more TA’s assist with giving feedback as the number of students increases.
5. How could the video have been designed to generate more or better activity from viewers or students?
The video could have put up multiple choice questions during the course of the video and give students a short amount time to think of an answer before later revealing the answer and explaining it. This would create further engagement from students and assist them in better understanding the material through the explanation.
